We don’t cut corners
because we polish them.
Cast. Cut. Flame. Sign. Every case passes through four sets of hands before it leaves. The certificate inside each crate lists the technician’s mark and measured tolerance — to the tenth of a millimetre.
- IStage I
Casting the sheet.
Cast acrylic only — denser, optically clearer, doesn't haze under decade-long display. Each sheet arrives in a single 25 kg pour and is rested twenty-four hours before a saw touches it.
Sheet · 5 mm · cast · medical-optical grade
- IIStage II
Cutting the panels.
Five panels per case, cut on a temperature-controlled CNC with a diamond-tipped bit. The kerf is corrected for the bit's heat expansion so the interior lands exactly where the drawing says — not 0.3 mm wide.
CNC · ±1.5 mm interior · single-pass cut
- IIIStage III
Polishing the seams.
Each seam is flame-polished by hand — propane-oxygen torch passed at a constant rate. Done well, the surface re-melts to optical clarity and the seam disappears under direct light. Done badly, it crazes. We do not let it craze.
Flame · 1200°C · single pass · seven seconds
- IVStage IV
Signing the work.
The technician who finished the case stamps the back panel with a numbered mark and signs the certificate. We log the case against the order. If anything ever goes wrong, we know who built it and when.
Numbered mark · ledger entry · lifetime trace
Each case ships with a Certificate of Specification listing wall thickness, interior tolerance, and the technician’s signature. If it doesn’t meet spec, we make you another.
I have cases from three other makers. The Obelisk is the only one with truly invisible seams. It is a different category of product.

The fit is borderline obsessive. My sealed box doesn't move a millimetre. You can tell someone measured.
Bought one to test. Now have eleven. The shelf looks like a museum exhibit.
